The SouthOrbit Story 🇿🇦

Africa is entering the space age. SOUTHORBIT was founded in South Africa with a singular, unyielding vision: to build independent, world-class orbital infrastructure that empowers the continent. From telecommunications to climate science, we are engineering the systems that will redefine our future on Earth and beyond.

Our Roadmap to 2030

2026

Research & Foundation

Establishing the core engineering team in South Africa, securing early-stage funding, and finalizing the initial prototype designs for our low-cost ion propulsion systems.

2027

Satellite Programs

Deployment of our first series of low-earth observation satellites (SouthSat-1). Focused on mapping agricultural growth, urban expansion, and critical climate shifts across the continent.

2028

Orbital Systems

Launching the first wave of the Ubuntu communications constellation. Providing high-speed, low-latency broadband to schools, hospitals, and businesses in remote African regions.

2030

African Launch Infrastructure

Inaugurating the first fully sovereign equatorial launch site on the continent, allowing SouthOrbit to launch heavy-lift vehicles and deep-space missions independently.
